This competition entry for Temporary Outdoor Art Gallery Pavilions was used as a means of exploring an extremely lightweight, off-grid, deployable, modular structure. The use of Sustainable features such as thin cell photovoltaics is applied like a graphic to create a clear visual identity to the pavilions, but also to the entire event. The pavilions described maximized shade and cover, while minimizing site impact...allowing the structures to be erected on city streets or parking lots, as well as in parks. In all respects the pavilion design took a position of contrast with the white box structures typical of art display, instead creating an active frame for art and the urban environment of Austin, TX.
